The way I do it is to put my finger in the LOOP with the OPEN side down and then start it into the dip tube,
I then ease it in and wiggle it to get it to go down the tube rather than bend at right angles as it wants to.
The extra bend they put in the dip tube makes this kind of hard as the tube is a little undersize on these engines.

it won't go back in?? try rotating it a bit once you start it. The on ein my 4.3 sticks sometimes. it's due to the bends in the dipstick tube.

If you've put it in, why do you need to know how to get it in? Do you mean you need to know how to take it out or vice-versa? If you need to put it back in, try doing it real slowly coz it may have some bends in it!
