The ring focuses the willpower and imagination of the wielder to create solid energy constructs. When the wielder is very creative, or detail oriented (like Kyle Rayner and John Stewart) then the ring creations are also elaborate and detailed. In the case of more direct wielders (Guy Gardner) the ring can project more simplistic creations such as force bubbles, energy blasts, etc. The creations are not permanent, but can be made to last a long time. The ring can also translate languages, and prevents the wielder from dying so long as it is charged. Also, the wielder can fly, survive in space, and analyze the chemical compositions of matter. On at least one occasion, Hal Jordan used the ring to create Green Kryptonite. The ring is somehow related to the Emerald Eye of Ekron (see: Legion of Superheroes, Emerald Empress).

Yes, he can! They have shown it done in the comics. Superman and GL were fighting and Hal turned the emerald in his ring into Kryptonite. However, and this is a big exception, since the Power Ring could be blocked by anythning yellow, Superman thought fast and, before he was paralyzed, pulled his cape around. He covered the Power Ring with the emblem on the back of his cape, which is all yellow, and it blocked the rays! Then he put GL’s lights out with one punch. Have to give the S-man credit for fast thinking.

the answer is yes. The green lantern ring can create any energy construct. while it would depend on the user and his/her ability to understand atomic theory, it would be possible. Kyle Rayner and John Stewart have used the expression, "Do you know that I can split an atom if i wanted to? It just takes a whole lot of concentration." Remember, Krytonite is a basic element, not a compound. If they can split an atom, then they can even add atoms into the basic carbon atom, enough to make kryptonite. Its basic physics. Also, more than one time have Kyle Rayner create energy on vaious wavelengths, like when he fought Effigy and had to snuff out his flames. so yes, it is possible.

That is a really good question. I bet it could- the Green Lantern is way cooler than Superman.

I never really thought about that. I believe he more than likely can. Given some of the other things he can make with his ring, why not Kryptonite? I think he should use it to his advantange, but then he would be evil, and not as cool.

You may notice that the people who answered, "yes", actually have something to back it up with. So, yes, the GLs CAN make kryptonite.
