It's such a pain to try and uninstall Norton...try the Norton Removal Tool, it works 99% of the time to completely remove Norton:

How do you know you have a trojan without norton to tell you. Norton would have quarantined that before closing down What sort of trojan is it and why cant you start up your internet you need to give more detail non internet is not usually hand in hand with no anti virus really you should have installed your new AV before the evaluation on norton finished. good luck if you give more detail people can have another think

I had a trojan and the only thing that would get rid of it was AVG. Be aware that if something is free it might not be the best and if you download too much free stuff they will all fight and use up your virtual mem. The norton uninstall from the control panel leaves several parts of the programme lurking on your hard drive and is a pig to eliminate totally without professional help. It seems its all down to preference on AV progs etc as to which one you use. Good luck

Use START >>> CONTROL PANEL >>> ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS
Once you've done that find the Norton folders usually in Program Files >>> delete this directories
I really like AVG for an anti-virus program. They have a free version, don't bug you with spam and have proven to be really effective.

Use Symantec's own removal tool, like Yoi_55 says, even they admit Norton's a b*gger to get rid of!
I'd recommend either AVG or Avast, both free to download, as anti-virus - only run one at a time though or they'll fight.
And Ad-Aware SE Personal (free again) as an excellent antimalware tool, as is Spybot S&D.
Hope this helps.
