if you have a hd ready tv, ( with a hdmi input ) and the dvdr has a hdmi output. Then all you need is a hdmi cable () digitail that carries both picture and sound ), this will " upscale " the dvd ( runs on 565 to an output of 695 ( almost hd ( 720 ).
This in effect will give you better pitures quailty.

The hdmi is a flat small socket behind the tv, on the dvdr it will say hdmi on the top of the machine.

hd ready isnt a hd dvd player i made this mistake unless you only bought it and it was about £400 .
it upscales ordinary dvds to the best picture it can get if you have hd-dvd showing at front of player you have a hd player.

eitherp layer will play ordinary dvds and not change format

If its only hd ready and not a hd dvd player do not buy hd discs as it wont play them.
