I am constantly wearing through my heel tips and getting them replaced. Yesterday I snapped a stiletto in half! And I just can't seem to walk any "lighter." I need to know what brands of shoes hold up better than others. (I wear high heels every day.) HELP!

I don't buy cheap shoes to begin with. And I'm wondering if I keep spending more, will I get a better shoe or not? I will not switch to flats. I love my heels. I do walk somewhat on concrete somewhat. I walk with confidence-- I walk briskly. To walk on my toes I'd have to take baby steps, and with being short already, it would take forever to get somewhere. I am looking for brands to buy. Who knows something about brands and quality? I am not opposed to replacing tips regularly if necessary, so long as the rest of the shoe holds up. P.S. Forgive my picture; it's for my 360 blog today.

I wear heels also every day and I haven't really run into your problem, and I'm 5'4", so not so tall. Generally, I wear shoes that have a little bit of width to the heels, not completely stiletto because it just makes sense that way. If you are a heavy walker by nature then maybe you should go with shoes that have thicker heels and save the stilettos for when you're not at work. And you just might have to change your stride - make it longer and when your feet come down, make sure the shoes are coming down flat, not to the side of the tip of the heel or anything. As for brands, I wouldn't shop at the obviously cheap stores, but at the rate that you do go through them, try shopping at ross and online clearances, because buying shoes gets sooooo expensive! Good luck!

First of all it could be the surface that you're walking on. If you walking on concrete or a hard tiled surface all day, then you're going to wear your shoes down faster than if you were walking a surface with some "give" to it. I have the same problem, I work in a hospital. I started getting the heel tips on my shoes replaced with rubber tips. You can also get the "no-slip" pads placed on the bottom of your shoes which helps. You can buy those at almost any shoe store.
If worst comes to worst, like it did for me, just start wearing flats.

You are probably pounding your heel on the ground when you walk. Try practicing walking on your toes when not wearing heels, you know, around the house...just to experience a shift in balance. You could also try taking ballet to learn to balance your body differently. It would be fun too. Finally, try being a bit more flexible in your behavior and attitude, ie. don't "dig in your heels". You know why angels fly? They take themselves lightly. You could try not wearing heels. Rejoice in your petiteness. Good luck!!
