Yikes. No.
I think he'd want the kid (and Mum) to be as healthy as possible.

Most doctors will not let you "request" an induction. It has to be what is right for the baby. Besides, from everyone I've ever known who has been induced, it is not the most fun process. Hopefully, it will happen naturallly. There are some things you can do to speed the process along, if you are full term and very close to your due date, and ready to get things going! For example: have sex! It sounds funny, but the uterine contractions can start labor! Also, do a lot of walking and/or housework. It is so much easier and more comfortable to go into labor naturally than to be stuck in a hospital bed and being given drugs to bring on contractions. Good Luck!

It depends. First your doc will only induce you if she feels you need it. It's always good to let the baby come at its own time. Besides, being induced is miserable! I don't know if the 12th would be a good day or not. I'd talk with your husband first. It would make what is normally a sad time of year happy for him, but it could also depress him on days that are supposed to be happy. Just check with him. It's a decision you both need to make.

I just had a doctor appt and not due for another week. My doctor saw how fustrated im getting not having my baby. She had given me the choice to induce. I chose not to because I want her to come out on her own. Talk to your doctor and see what he/she recommends. Maybe youll be lucky and if you dont have your baby by your appt you can have her when you want. Also i think it would be a sweet gesture if your husband approves of it of course.

The thought of doing it is already a gift from you to your partner!.
Inducing labor on the other hand is hell. Just don't do it. Let nature work out on its own.You can't play magic on those things. It will be painful for you and some complications (hope not) for the baby.Labor is hard as it is.You could consider naming the baby after his grandfather..or using a name that starts with his letter, or a name that has the same meaning. But you had a lovely thought. Good luck with the baby! and congratulations!

It's a nice gesture...
Ask your doctor... they may schedule the induction.
I just got induced... and I chose the date, so it can be done. By the way, if you do get induced... may I recommend that you have them break your water but hold off on the pitocin to see if you'll go into labor on your own. Given enough time, you may start the contractions and not need pitocin. That's what I did... and I'm soooo glad I didn't need any additional interventions.

That is a really sweet thought! But I strongly advise against inducing unless you have to. It's not dangerous or anything-I had it done and I regret it. I don't have the cool story to tell my daughter about walking through Belk and having my water break or waking up her daddy in the middle of the night-calling the grandparents, etc.
If none of that is important, though, I'd say go for it.

Talk it over with him first and make sure. Since you're due on the 7th, there should be no problem inducing you. A lot of people will say not to and to leave well enough alone, but my doctor induced me one day over due because i was uncomfortable. Just keep in mind that you may be in labor longer than you think and end up having the baby the next day. But talk it over with your doctor and your hubby! I have to have a repeat c section with this one, and am going to do it on my birthday and my grandmothers birthday.
Good luck!
