Maybe you're nervous because you don't understand everything that's going on with your baby or the developmental process. I always recommend "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and "The Mayo Clinic's: Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy". They both talk about developmental stages of your baby and what you can expect with emotions, physiological changes and stages of your baby's development. Knowledge eases the stress. Best of luck and congrats!

I lived by the "What to Expect When You're Expecting" book. Its like the bible for pregnancy. It absolutely had EVERYTHING in it. Any questions I had were all answered. It goes week by week and there are questions that other people have asked about their own pregnancies in there. It also has really good advice for you during your pregnancy. After you have the baby you will also want "What to Expect the First Year". That book is excellent as well. Good Luck!

lol....
I am sorry, I don't know of any books, but I do remember the emotional crazies.....I just had my baby a year ago, and looking back on it, I laugh about how desperate I was. My emotions really got the best of me.
I can only recommend that you write down really big on a piece of paper: "I WILL LOOK BACK ON THIS IN A YEAR AND LAUGH (and cry)!". Put it on your fridge, and by your bed, and look at it often.
Be very conscious of your emotions, though.....postpartum depression is very serious, and can creep up on a new mom with no warning. Take your depression seriously, but also try to put it into context.
You will do great!

Any of the chicken soup books are good. Try some light yoga and breathing exercises...this will help to release endorphins and relieve some of the stress. I know it seems bad now and like it will never end, but it really does get better. Congrats on the new baby!

what's troubling you?
I say chicken soup for the soul always helps. Count the blessings you have and remember that a beautiful life is inside you. emotions are all in your head. You have total control of your body.
On days when I am really upset and want to yell, I have to remember that you catch more flies with honey then with vinegar.
And that no matter how bad things get, I'm pregnant and making a big deal out of it...hehe.

You think being pregnant is a roller coaster of emotions, wait til the child is born! That's when the real fun begins!
The best thing to do is talk to people-your mom, mother in law, girlfriends who've been through it. You can also talk to your doctor & get his/her input on ways of dealing with it. If it makes you feel any better, it is quite normal for you to feel any and every thing, and usually all at the same time.

It is quite normal for a first time mother. In a month you will start to feel a little bit better.
I don't know of any books, but try to keep your mind busy.
Congrats and good luck with your baby.
