You can have sex as soon as you feel ready, usually within a week.
You should avoid strenuous exercise for several days, and you should be able to return to work within a few days.

I had my tubes tied after I had my daughter in 03. The Dr. told me that I had to wait the regular 6 weeks, till after my checkup to make sure that everything was ok. If you feel that you are ready you could try it, but I would start out slow. I had a lot of problems with ripping my internal stitches and some minor muscle tearing. I hope this helps you, but like I said start out slow.
