How do i filter out audio noise?

How do i remove annoying humming, buzzing, and crackling that comes from recording through the line in (yes, i do have to do analog recording, so i am looking for how to remove it, not how to avoid it). is there any freeware, virtualdub audio filter, itunes preset, Windows Media plugin, or anything that can help me?

You can try audacity. It is freeware
