Your baby is just enjoying the womb. When it is time for his/her big day, it'll drop.
In the meantime, just enjoy the last part of being pregnant. (as miserable as it can be). Labor day will be there soon enough and countless days of no sleep will prevail.

Only the baby has control over this. You could try doing a lot of walking (any activity that keeps you upright to help gravity work with you). Is this your 1st or 2nd? Usually with 2nd pregnancies, baby doesn't drop until you go into labor.
You can rest assured that your baby will engage at some point. Can't stay inside forever! Good luck... and be patient.

Not all babys drop before the mother is in active labor. It's more likely to happen with your first then any subsequent pregnancies but it's not a guarentee.

Not a doctor, but birth canal cannot be entered until you have fully dilated. Is this your first? Most women on their first pregnancies wonder if every little pain and twinge is it. You probably don't want to hear this, but, like everyone else who has told you, "You'll know it when it is happening. There'll be no doubt."

it can happen any time from 36 wks, but i am in week 37 and have been told because my baby is in a back to back position, it may not engage til closer to 40 wks,,,,,i believe once baby engages it can be felt in the pelvis, and is usually around 2 wks before labour starts

It can happen anytime or may not happen until actually stage 2 (when it starts to really hurt) labor. For me... I started to dilate earlier on (34 wk) but she didnt "drop" until the night before I had her.
