HAH they dont. When I was in the hosp waiting room for severe pain in my lower abdomen a homeless guy walked in with a bleeding toe, he stubbed it and it was infected, guess who got seen first. Waiting time in alberta for a doctor while in the emergency room is 8+ hours

I think it's perfectly normal to feel that way. I pretty much felt that way too. But you can still invite your parents to be at the hospital with you though. They could be in the room while you labor. The nurses can have them leave periodically to check your dilation or if something has to be done that requires nudity. Or they can stand in a place like up by your head where they don't have a bulls eye view of your privates. With two of my children I had my best friend with me and she was the "Modesty Police" because I knew I wouldn't be in a state to care. I remember her telling the Dr. to "Cover up her butt, she doesn't want her butt out."lol. Anyway, you do have options, and a lot of people find out once they are there they don't really care who sees. Since you are young you might change your mind and at least want your mom there. I didn't want any guys in the room except for my hubby, but I have some friends who have the whole clan in there.

All patients go through triage. Baically they acess how critical the conditon of the patient is and treat the most critical patients first. Eventually everyone will be seen. But if it is for somthing minor you could be there a very very long time.

Very carefully. Patients who are critical (patient needs help immediately or will get worse/die/etc.) will get bumped up in line, otherwise it is first come, first served. Although it may take a while, yes, patients will all be seen eventually.

yes they do its useally 1st comes 1st serves basis but if an trama comes in they go before anyone else of course. sometimes the one dr. will not be able to see all the patients in the e.r. cause of the shift change.

sadly, it sometimes can't be helped... but usually they take in the more serious case in first. the more experienced nurses will take care of situations of lesser emergency... sometimes they'll have to call in specialists from other hospitals to come in... but most of the time, the hospital is fully equiped :)

Hope this helps, Peace.
