Because they're not always on opposite sides of the earth. The moon rotates around the earth and the earth rotates around the sun. Remember, the moon and the sun don't both rotate around the earth at 180 degrees away from each other; therefore, they can occasionally be seen together in the same sky. What do you think eclipses the sun during a solar eclipse.

The Moon can be on any side of the world because it orbits the Earth. Sometimes it is on the same side as the Sun and sometimes it isn't.

the other side of the world? NO.... if the orbits are such that they are both in the same position, the usualy reason you cant see the moon is the same reason u cant see the stars... the sun is too bright..
So when you can see both... it means that the moon position is such that it is strong enough to be seen while the sun is still up.

The moon orbits us, the sun stays stationery, so they aren't always in the same exact position regarding each other, which is why we have solar eclipses.
The suns light is always being reflected off of the moon, if its clear, you can see it.
