Hi. My doctor prescribed 25 mg suppositories of this to stop me from throwing up from morning sickness. Problem is, he gave me 4, told me to use them every 6 hours as needed. That lasted me 4 days....he won't refill it because he says morning sickness is just part of pregnancy. I have a business to run, so I have begun looking online to order some in the pill form as I HATE suppositories. Would tablets that are 25mg do the same thing and can anyone recommend something that won't make me sooooo tired? Thank you...any help is appreciated.

I hate to tell you this, but your doctor is right. Morning sickness is a big part of some people's preganancies. Keep saltines on hand at all time, they really kill the naseau pretty well. Taking meds so early on in a pregnancy is far more dangerous than the possibility of you having to work while you feel like crap. And hang in there, thank goodness it only lasts the first few months, sometimes only a month for some people. In the second trimester you'll have a lot of energy and feel great.

I heard from a friend that some of the meds they give you for morning sickness contain a lot of caffeine. I had morning sickness for 6 weeks, and I know how you feel. I never through up but felt like I was seasick for the whole time. I cut out my coffee when I found out I was prego,( and I love my coffee), and decided that I just had to have a least one cup a day. I just missed it. I ordered decaf from Starbucks and I think they accidentally gave me regular cuz my hands were shaking after wards, but I felt like my old self again. I tried the decaf again, and this time they gave me the right stuff and I didn't feel that much better. I now have a cup or two a day and ever since then I feel normal. My doctor said 1 or 2 cups a day was okay so maybe try it. It might work for you too. GOOD LUCK!! Hang in there, it only usually lasts the 1st tri!

HI there, I want to add my perspective to this question. I became so violently ill during week 6 of pregnancy that I became dehydrated and was close to hospitalization. I tried the combination of Unisom + B6 that has the same ingredients as Diclectin. But, all that happened was i was so tired and miserable, and still super nauseous. I work fulltime so this wasn't going to work. My doctor then prescribed Zofran, which I took daily for 12 weeks (first a full pill, then half, then a 1/4). I am at week 19 and still throw up almost daily, but I stopped the Zofran. It never made me tired. Phenergan killed the nausea more, but made me really exhausted. My doctors assured me this was safe. Of course, my baby hasn't been born yet, but I couldn't go to work or function throwing up 8+ times a day. So I felt this was the right choice. You should find a doctor who will let you take the medication!!!! Good luck.

one word 'diclectin'! it is a miracle drug. i just take one before i go to bed and when i wake up i feel awesome. ive been taking it for 3 months now and I don't know where I'd be without it. Im 20 weeks pregnant now and Ii still suffer from morning sicknes and I swear by it. there has been studies on it to show that women who have taken it thoughout their whole pregnancy have had no problems with their babies from it I just had my 20 week ultrasound today and everything was perfect. I would ask about that for sure. If your doctor wont prescribe it for you, some answers on here sound like they would help. Hope you feel better soon and that your one of the 'normal' ones whose goes away after 12 weeks or so lol
good luck

Try Benadryl. The childrens liquid form, even walmart brand-Children's allergy elixer. 1 teaspoon maybe 2x a day-like every 8 hours. Thats what I used. And it was perfectly safe for me to use while pregnant. Some people think what will that do? but it works. Just check with your doctor, to make sure it is safe for YOU. Not all doctors know it will help will a unsettled belly.

If you need the medication tell him! I had to use the suppositories for a few days to get it under control then I had oral pills. don't use anything that your doc doesn't prescribe, especially during pregnancy it can be very dangerous.

They all make you tired though. I had to be on them for 5 months of my pregnancy.

did your dr. prescribe phenergan/promethegan? if so, yeah, the pills work just the same, but they will make you even more tired than the suppositories.

as far as other prescriptions to try... my pregnancy nausea was caused by vertigo (it felt like the room was spinning). my dr gave me meclizine for dizziness/vertigo, and it helped a lot.

for standard morning sickness, though.... it sounds crazy, but walking really helps. and vitamin B6 is a life-saver. talk to your dr about the maximum dosage that's safe during pregnancy, and take it every day.

and remember, it won't last forever!
good luck!

Try something more natural like ginger. Ginger ale or ginger snaps are great for easing nausia. Keep something light on your stomach at all times, such as saltine crackers. If you experience morning sickness mostly in the morning hours, keep some crackers next to your bed and anytime you wake up or get up to pee in the night, eat a couple. Keeping something light on your stomach helps ease the feeling of morning sickness. That's my two cents. I hope it helps and good luck!

Have you tried vitamin B-6? My ob/gyn told me about it when I was pregnant last year. I took one B-6 every night with my prenatals and a little snack, just before bed. After 3 nights my morning sickness was totally gone.
