It was measured on an ultrasound and the doctor was not there, just the ultrasound technician. They are not allowed to comment on whether something is good or bad. She told me she is not allowed to tell if something is wrong.

I am almost positive that everything is fine. The further along the baby develops, the slower the heart will beat. When I was pregnant with my daughter, her heart beat was somewhere around 180 bpm at 10 weeks, and at around 5 months it was down to 160. Before the birth it dropped once again to somewhere around 145. She was completely healthy and a normal pregnancy. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I remember new borns are supposed to have a high heartbeat but then I don't remember the number now. For adutls a heartbeat is about 80 bpm. The really healthy ones can go down to 40 bpm at rest.
