By about six months your child should be able to stay awake for a few hours at a time and just take 2 or 3 naps per day. That seems like a lot of naps to me right now--my 2 1/2 month old is taking about 4 hour and a half naps per day and going about 7 hours straight at night.

Hey baby is only 2 1/2 months old... This is normal for that age! I would say around 9 months they will start taking 2 naps a day. One in the morning and another in the afternoons. I'm a nanny for twin boys and they nap for about a hour from 10-11 and then nap again from like 3-4:30.

Ive never heard of 5 or 6 45 min naps with a 2 yr old honestly....with my experience usually they should have one long nap midmorn...for example, my niece wakes up then has a nap between 1030 and 12 depending on the time she first woke up then will sleep for 2 - 3 hours then be up til her bedtime between 7 - 8.....that is also the same scedule as the two 2 yr olds i have babysat...I am on my first pregnancy and I plan on my 2 year olds being on the same schedule...good luck

My little girl neve rtook the the 2-3 hr nap but would take 3 -1 hr naps around 4 mo old. She was nursed and slept through the night at 1 mo old, but would only "cat nap" during the day. The docs said she wouldnt nap long during the day since she was sleeping 8-10 hr at night (and yes I was grateful). So I just tried to keep her up longer inbetween naps and eventually they flipped to an hour nap about every 3 hrs. BUT EVERY KID IS DIFFERENT.

At about 5 months my daughter started taking a morning nap. She sleeps from 8pm to 8am so I have never felt the need to put her down for two naps. It wasn't easy though. I don't think napping comes naturally to all babies. I didn't want to leave her crying forever either so what I did was put her in bed, sing, and read to her. If she was still crying, I left and let her cry for no more than fifteen minutes before I would come back. Eventually she got to the point where she would go down for a nap without a peep. And that's what she does now. If you do it that way, the babies have a chance to self soothe but at the same time they know their mommy is still there for them.

the short naps are pretty much them just recharging their lil battery. be happy that she is sleeping through the night. if you want her to take longer naps during the day then simply keep her up and busy like playing with her. my daughter still takes the lil cat naps but in the afternoon she has started taking a longer nap and she will be 8months tomorrow.so good luck!

At that age, from what I remember our children did pretty much the same. Wake up eat, poop, sleep and probably some interaction. Each child is differant and at this age I wouldn't worry too much. The more sleep they get the better it is for you. Look for a book called the "Contented Baby Book". Its written by an English pediatric nurse. She talks about training your children to sleep and how to do it. We followed some of it and the results were great. Our children were never cranky, and mostly happy simply beacuse they were well rested.

oops, sorry i have a 5 and a half month old daughter and and she started taking regular naps around about 4 months old, be patient with everything your kids do at any age, they depend on you for support and if you want to be a good parent , you will be there and do whatever it takes
