Here's the deal,....it's really not that hard. Iraqi people were being murdered by genocide by their own President Saddam. U.S. had know this and feared more to come from this guy, so we came to disrupt his regime and kicked him out. Now that he is gone, why can't all Iraqis come together as a country and let the U.S. set up a government of Iraqis that will work? It seems as if Iraqi people could stop blowing themselves up for a few months, we could get a govenment system set up, restore some type of law, and then go home. I don't understand why Iraqis don't want this to happen as fast as possible. Why??

Where to start on this one....? I'll try to keep this short.
The US doesn't invade sovreign nations because of Genocide. Look at Sudan.
We (the US) did set up the Iraqi government which is currently failing. We set up the elections and handed them a copy of a constitution which doesn't quite fit the culture and climate of Iraq. After the elections (Dec '05) the Iraqi's contested every person that was elected citing that there was corruption all through the nation to cover up the puppet government that the US wanted to put in place.
Jalal Talabani is a Kurd. How could a Kurd be elected in an arab nation when the Kurds have the smallest population in the nation? It's easy, the Kurds control the majority of the oil reserves in Iraq and that is who we (the US) want supporting us.
Democracy, as an elected representative state, will not work in Iraq. The demographics and hardline religious divisions will not allow it to happen. Somewhat like forcing the square peg to fit the round hole.

You have a great idea that occured to a few billion others. There's one catch, who will be the leader of this new government?.
The Iraqi population is made up of tribes and religious denominations. Each wants to be in the drivers seat. Take any one group and ask your question. They'll all agree, if their man would be at the head of the government.
Now you have to figure a way of getting the entire population of Iraq thinking of themselves as Iraqis, not this or that tribe,or whichever church group. Good luck - - - but don't expect too much.

The only people who got killed in Iraq were those who caused Saddam personal problems. It is erroneous to believe he just summarily killed people for personal gratification. It is more accurate that each death served a political agenda (as heinous as it might be). More importantly, Saddam actually had control over Iraq, which is something the United States military and new Iraqi government cannot duplicate.

The sectarian violence is an ages old thing that goes back to the time of Mohammad. Also, Saddam had mostly Sunnies in the Baath party and that still leaves a bad taste.
Add in that Iran wouldn't mind Iraq being a bit in chaos at least for awhile.

They will not work together because they have a religious dispute over who is the legitimate heir to Mohammad. This is why I fear our efforts in Iraq will be unsuccessful. We deposed Saddam and destroyed what weapons he had. Isn't that victory? If we wait in Iraq until they resolve a religious dispute, we will truly never leave. This is not a political issue. It's more akin to the Catholic-Protestant disputes of Northern Ireland.

I think they do but the problem is real close to the problem we have here in politics. The different groups all think that their group (or party as we refer to them) has the best way to run the country. They also have another problem and that is that Iran and some other people of the region don't want democracy to work for Iraq so they are sending in insurgents and bombs to keep them in an uproar.

I don't get it either, I think maybe its because they feel that the US will set up a 'puppet' government in Iraq, and will effectively use it as a US outpost.
I agree with you though, I would have thought the radicals would think "We can help rebuild Iraq to a great country, then the coalition will leave." but instead they blow up innocents.
