Dont buy a Toshiba, I had a couple of Stuck pixels on mine and they wouldnt repair or replace it.
I am stuck with a £ 500 door stop, Not happy
The Toshiba Policy is over 15 Dead or Stuck pixels before they will replace

laptop need not to be costly. Buy the laptop that suits your budget. The question is how you gonna use it? For me the most important thing is, it must be branded, size of the harddrive, and the speed of the processor. But look for a bargain with plenty of free software that are usefull and back by warranty. Later on you can upgrade your notebook as you become more computer active.

It depends on your criteria. Different people want their laptop to do different things. You will have to sit down and make a list of what you want your laptop to do for you. Then and only then, can you decide which brand and model is right for you.
