It has been two weeks since i sent off my claim for MA, i still haven't been payed, or been sent a letter saying when i will be payed. Should it take this long? how long have you or somebody you know had to wait? please answer if you kno anything. Thanks x

Maternity allowance is mainly for the self employed you will get it for 9 months if baby is born after 1/4/07. Or six months if not. I would wait 28 working days and then call your local benefits office to chase it up. You will get it eventually I agree it is very slow, Im still waiting too.

Totally depends on your country and province/state. I went on Mat leave with my first at the end of 7th month being pregnant (few days from being 8mos pregnant) I had to go into the Canada Revenue office AFTER I gave my notice to start paperwork. Which sucked because I was unsure if i qualified as it was... I don't remember getting a cheque right away either... and it certainly wasn't a weekly cheque, it was a monthly cheque and I think my first was given to me after my son was born, but it included all the back pay.

You should have given your company 28 days notice and they pay you on the same date as your salary was paid every month xxx

took me about 6 weeks for mine to come a few years back, can`t see it being any quicker now.

your employer will have 28 days to reply to you so might need to leave it a bit longer.
