you probably should be taking them but when I was pregnant they made me sick so I decided it was pointless to take them!
Congratulations and good luck!

I'm not sure I understand your question, but if you're asking if you should still be taking folic acid on top of your prenatal, then the answer is no, unless your doctor has instructed you to take the folic acid. Prenatals have around 600mg of folic acid which most doctor's recommend a minimum of. Ask your doctor if you need to be on a folic acid supplement on top of your prenatals. Take your prenatal bottle with you so that your doctor can look at the ingredients. Best of luck and CONGRATS on expecting!

I would say "yes you NEED to take your prenatal vitamins" but that would be hypocracy on my part. Really they say you should, but I didn't. The iron in them made me sick because I have always had high iron levels. My son was healthy. I'm not saying do what I did. I'm saying do what you and your doc feel is right. They will do you good. There is no harm in taking them. Really, you should take vitamins when you aren't pregnant. Again, hypocracy on my part...... sorry. I guess what I'm saying is that you are better if you do but not screwed if you don't. As for folic acid, it is a good idea to load up on that stuff. It's excelent for brain develoment. Prenatals have plenty of it in them. Also eat lots of cereal. Cream of wheat is an excellent source of folic acid.

your prenatal vitamins should have enough folic acid already. You shall only take 800mg folic acid daily. To much folic acid is not necessary good either.

You have to check how much folic acid is in your vitamins bc it is bad for the fetus to over dose with folic acid I think its less than 1.0 a day is normal I would ask your doctor bc that is important!! Good luck

There's enough folic acid in your prenatal vitamin that you don't need any supplemental folic acid.

As long as your prenatal has the recommended amount you're fine. Especially if you are eating a lot of green veggies. Sometimes if you take the extra vitamin on top of the prenatal you can get a sick stomach.

your prenatal vitamins have exactly enough of everything you need daily, so taking extra, your body will only dispose of it.
There's folic acid in a lot of foods you eat, so the vitamin only compensates the rest of what you need daily.
