The rebuilding of the Cubs has begun? Do you think we can get a division title this year? Why or why not?

Yes they can. They made a lot of changes to their squad, they have a proven manager and they play in the weakest division in baseball last year. Yes the Cardinals won it all, but if it went by record alone, they would not have even been in the playoffs.

I understand alot of people will try and use it doesn't matter how they got into the playoffs they still won it all, and although that may be true, they still had the worst record of any playoff team last year.

So I would have to say they can get the division title this year.

Not unless they get a million type A free agents. They really have very little as opposed to the Reds and Cardinals. The Cards' Garcia and Wainwright are young and will only get better, plus Garcia was a rookie this year, so the Cardinals probably didn't give him as many innings as he will next year and in later years. Then of course they have Pujols and Holliday, and that alone is better than the whole Cubs lineup. Then the Reds also have a solid rotation, which may even include Aroldis Chapman as well next year, and guys like Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto for run support. Cubs... all around pretty bad.

They can If just know how to play, Reds, Pirates, Astros, Cardinals, and Brewers to a Normal Baseball Team ( Yankees, Tigers, Dodgers) can beat them all at once, the Cubs aren't like those Teams you can be in weakest Division are still play Terrible You Win Anything If don't know how to play Baseball.

They got rid their Good Players and Kept the Bad Ones, Nothing will Change from last year for the Cubs.

Absolutely!

Their biggest question marks are the OF defense, and SP depth. They will score runs, and Big Z and the bullpen will carry the pitching. I think they will need to make midseason deals for a solid CF and another SP.

BUT Yes they can win the division. The central is weak once again. The Cardinals, and Astros took a step backwards. The Reds, Pirates and Brewers will be better though.

Go Cubs!!!!!

They certainly can. In fact, any team in the NL Central CAN win, and not just in the sense that it is within the realm of all possibility. From top to bottom, the NL Central is perhaps the closest division in terms of talent and chance of success, and this bodes as well for the Cubs as for any other team in the central.

Although the Cubs certainly made the most noise of any Central team this offseason, they failed to address what seems to be a glaring weakness, pitching. Not just starters but also the bullpen. Aside from Carlos Zambrano there is no reliably solid option in the rotation (Prior is good when healthy but is rarely healthy, Lilly is solid as a 4-starter/innings eater but is not a true threat, Marquis is a disaster waiting to happen and Hill is unproven). And relying on Kerry Wood and Ryan Dempster as your closers is a gamble. The Cubs did address their glaring weakness from last year (the ability to score runs) and should slug it out with the best of them. That might be the difference in a close NL Central.

Of course, every team in the division has problems, so it might turn out that the Cubs have fewer problems than their competitors. I wouldn't count on it though.

HEY HEY!!! Cubs fans should definitely be happy about the 2007 season. They might be able to pull it off, but I can't guarantee anything. The Cardinals are the defending Champions. So, the Cubs will have their work cut out for them in 2007. At least they won't be as bad as 2006. So Cubs fans, I wish you a good 2007 season.

They can. They have a good skipper in sweet Lou and they may have enough talent to win it. They just resigned Mark Prior for a year and that's a good thing barring injury. Kerry Wood is still a big question mark but if he's okay and with the addition of Ted Lilly, the pitching is better than good. Alphonso Soriano is a stud and when he's on base anything can happen. The Cubbies can take the division.

The Cubs suck there is no way they are going to win the divison!! The teams in my top pick to win are the yankees or the twins. The cubs didn't have a prayer before and they won't this year either.

yes, hope so , because this is the year for the cubs if the bears made it to the super bowl then it's safe to say that the cubs will make it to the world series

The Cubs suck and won't stay healthy, which will put them in 2nd to last place in the NL Central only ahead of the Reds.
