There's the religious version --

"A godparent, in most denominations of Christianity, is someone who sponsors a child's baptism..."

-- and the secular --

"Godparent is also used, in absence of a "religious reason", as a stated person (be it family member or close friend) who is responsible for the child in the event of both parents demise or incapacition."

'Incapacition' is an interesting word. Nice writing, Wikipedia. But you get the idea.

A Godparent is a religious distinction. They are usually a family member or close friend. They are responsible for making sure the child is brought up in the religious tradition of the family.

This is not the same as the guardians that parents would name in their Will if they happen to die. They may choose the same people for both, but being chosen for one does not mean that you are chosen for the other.

The Holy Spirit isn't a residing guy or woman according to se, yet a marvelous capacity source ( basically like extremely violet rays from the solar) that is controlled and directed via God Himself. The Scriptures does no longer let us know if God (Heavenly Father) has mom and dad or no longer. yet He might desire to have because of the fact how else develop into He created?

They dont take custody...
Whoever you put on your will, will take care of your kids.
God parents are parents who will teach your children the ways of God.
What religion are you? It depends on your religion and when you have the baby, you'll be required to take a class, in which you'll find out with a god parent truly is.
