No, not at this time. I lived through it and remember it well. The fear of a nuclear attack was much greater.

Operation: Able Archer was actually the closest we've come to a nuclear war, but that wasn't public.

I think we'll be fine, for a few years, anyway.

unfortunately yes. Here's the problem. It won't be missles lobbed over the ocean. It will be a portable device left somewhere. There are hundreds of warheads that disappeared when the soviet union collapsed.

Edit: I wasn't there, but Cuba is only 90miles away. To nuke us would have nuked themselves. I don't think even they were that mad. It was a great great bluff though.
