Not really.
See Obi-wan is a Jedi master weather he's dead or alive. It would be against everything he believed in to tell Luke about the future. He doesn't tell Luke that Darth Vader was his father till the last movie. Now why did he do that? He could have easily told Luke that Darth was his father but obi wan didn't do it. He didn't say anything about Darth because Luke needed to grow up a bit. Obi wan knew as most parents do that a) you have to pick your battles and b) the younger generation has to learn somethings on their own.
Besides, what kind of movie would star wars be if Obi Wan was telling Luke about every choice he had. I for one enjoyed the bit in episode six where he had to fight the rancor monster. What kind of fun would the movie have been if Luke talked jabba to death?

Actually, you do not. When Obi Wan tells Like to use the Force to shoot the torpedo Luke was not relying on the Force. Obi-Wan was just reminding him that the Force could guide him to making the shot. Obi-Wan never revealed any future to Luke and really could not have. The Force can be used to tap into precognitive abilities, however, it cannot reveal the future. Remember what Yoda tells Luke, "Always in motion the future is." Obi-Wan only gave advice to Luke or revealed pieces of the Skywalker past. I think you need to watch the movies again.

Not valid at all...I understand what you are saying to an extent. However, Obi-Wan knows that Luke needs to learn things on his own from experience. Obi-Wan cannot come and go at will, he only shows up during times of great stress and turmoil.

Yeah its a valid point but it wouldn't make much of a movie though if he told Luke everything and beside the best way to learn is by doing anyway . i bet you the next time Luke went into a place he was unfamiliar with he looked for trap doors in the floor first. you cant teach that by telling you need to fall in and face that rancor to learn not to do that ever again.

No, if you read the books, Kenobi doesn't have infinite power or knowledge, besides the visits you see in the movies he only talks to luke a few other times, and eventually he can't talk anymore, he is very limited in his visits it takes a long time to gain enough power to visit luke, also obviously he doesn't have infinite knowledge, if he did he would have told luke on dagoba that han and leia would live so luke would stay with yoda, but as the movies say he didn't know.

you make a very valid point, but its in the star wars trilogy to make thing seem less than wjhat they are.... its not right for obi' to just pop up at a "calm" moment in the movie and say dont do this, cuz that would defy the point of becoming a jedi master. if he told him all the bad parts there would be no action or suspense in the movie. it would doll it and it would have been a stupid trilogy.

Kind of. It makes sense, but I think Obi Wan wants Luke to do everything on his own. He can't be having a dead guy help him with everything, he needs to be responsible for his own actions. Find his own path, make his own mistakes and fix them.

Yeah, but then it'd be a short movie- and Obi-Wan wouldn't really be teaching Luke much??

well yes u do make a valid point but mayve he wants him to make his own choices. telling him to use the force isnt telling him exactly what to do its telling him to look inside himself to find the answer.
what i want to know though is if luke can talk to obi wan then why cant obi wan talk to quigon ginn in the 2nd one??

how about this? obi wan knows luke better than anyone, he knows how headstrong is. lets say he tells him luke dont do this or luke dont that because i know and i see what will happen. well whats luke going to do? hes going to defy him anyway and do it because of human nature and curiosity. so its best not saying it and letting him experience it his ownself. its like when u were a kid u didnt want your parents telling you not to do stuff because they said so, you wanted to do it to see why you shouldnt be doing it.
