The measurements of th Uk are aprox 1/2 size of that of france however when i search for pictures of europe from space the Uk appears larger/same size of france. Is this not techincally impossible? i know why the Uk is shown on atlas's as bigger (the british empire wanted the Uk to loook bigger therefore more powerful) but pictures from space shouldnt be like this. Can anyone shed any light on this as im really confused

It depends upon where the satalite that took the picture is.
Just like looking out the window of your car, the objects that are close look bigger than those that are farther away. Think about looking at a tree with your head near the trunk looking up. The part of the tree that is closer to you will look larger.

a atlas or a map is a representation of a spherical (3D) body on a flat (2D) surface. If you peel an orange, and try to flatten the skin, some parts in the middle will compress while the outside will be stretched. I think a globe is the best way to judge the size of a land mass.

If u seem at any photos taken from area that's continually black in the historic past. NASA edits the pictures and takes out the lower back floor. How can u take a photograph from earth of the celebs and notice them yet whilst u take it from area u won't have the ability to, whilst u seem at pictures from the moon u can see around the entire photograph each and every of the little plus sighns that are even for the period of and up and down, it quite is how they edit the pictures. The moon has massive mountains cliffs that's no longer flat with wholes there is so a lot greater effective than u see. Idk why they do no longer want us seeing each and every of the celebs around the earth yet they do no longer. It has no longer something to do with earth or the solar, the celebs have been bumped off! seem up dark sky shield and there are photos from I telephones that are exhibiting multie stars, if we had no easy pollutants we could easily ale photos of the celebs from earth so for absolutely everyone to assert that the earth and solar block out the celebs is a team of bull crock there are hundreds of stars yet no longer one exhibits up? think of roughly it.

It depensds on where its at in the frame. Things closer to the middle tend to be correct and as you move away things get distorted in size and shape. Part of it is the putting a three D object on a two D plain.

Things in the middle of the lens when the picture was taken will look bigger than things taken to the side of the lens. This is because the Earth is a sphere and so, it has things it's sides looking smaller.

A good web site to visit is www.bbc.co.uk/space
They have interesting links, and plenty information of our own world, as well as the universe.
You can also ask questions.
Give it a try, I think it may help. Good luck.
