ok i know people say it is bad for the hair, but i am black and use it, i use olive oil also, first i put it on my scalp and then a little pertroleum, to keep my scalp lubricated, i have a very dry scalp and using just olive oil on it doesnt cut it, i do this about twice a week and do it when i flat iron my hair, my hair moves like white peoples and is growing long, so should i still stop using pretoleum??????

thanks

Hey Tina! I heard the same thing about petroleum. I do use it on my hair while curling and flat-ironing it...my hair is coarse and thick and it's the only thing that keeps it tame. The other oils (such as TCB Hair food) just don't cut it.
Everyone's hair is different and as long as your hair is healthy, I don't know that you're damaging it...I think the proof is in the pudding in this case.
Good luck!

You put petroleum on your hair! That sounds greasy as hell. I don't put anything on my hair when I get it done. It weighs it down. I can imagine straight up grease weighs it down more.

By the way, I felt sad for you when you said your hair was moving like white folks. Hug yaself girl. I'm married to a white man and he loves when I blow out my fro!
