Soft yet intrigingly, unique Christian music! Like Steve Miller, or FFH.

There needs to be substance in the lyrics, there needs to be an actual singing voice, and there has to be some type of instrumental set-up involved that has more than just a few basic strums that are distorted or altered by some kind of pedal or in-studio effect. basic and false rhyming that clash together in some fervent attempt at making lyrical sense are no good. Some examples of that are: Avril Levine, (spelling?) Jessica Simpson, Maroon 5. Making jumpy flashy beats stand out over an elaborate over-the-top music session while using sex imagery and double entandra to pass off your piece of sh*t excuse for music is also bad. One huge example of that is Beyonce. Distorting everything and screaming isn't music, no matter how good your lyrics may be. Examples: Atreyu, Creed, Puddle of Mudd, Korn.
Music needs to have all the aspects mentioned above, and even if it isn't good music, at least it retains the qualities needed to be music. Which is more than I can say for the last five examples. Maroon 5 sucks, but it is still music, just very bad low quality music, it's the same for Jessica Simpson, and very little ( but still some) of what Avril Levine does, whatever you can call that.

Good music is made by good artists. Good artists tend to be bad businessmen. Hense; they aren't on the radio (often).
Because, people who run record companies are looking for musicians who are willing to hit the recording studio early, leave late, take "advice", tour, do back to back shows, and then wake up early and do it again. Artists aren't willing to do that stuff. Their in it for the freedom and art, not success and money.
Good music is EVERYWHERE if you know where to look.
Big shout out to; The Eels, G Love and the Special Sauce, Black Angels, Madlib, Talib Kwali, FourTet, Dispatch, Norah Jones, MosDef, Jack Johnson, Theivery Corp., Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Cake, Counting Crows, Death Cab For Cutie, Digable Planets, Split Lip Rayfield, Spacehog, Soundgarden, Wilco, Ween, War, Urge Overkill, War, TV on the Radio, Tool, The Toadies, Weezer, Sublime, The Shins, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise, The Roots, Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Postal Service, Otis Redding, Paul Simon, Poe, Lovage, Lost Boyz, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Morcheeba, Portishead, Hooverphonic, Lauren Hill, Louie Armstrong, Hum, The Killers, Kanye, Jane's Addiction, Incubus, Hot Chip, and of course Pink Floyd. Even though they are horribly dated, without them music today would just be lame. Word.

It's whatever you like. My feelings about music vary a lot from day to day. I like music that takes chances and is original, but is also beautiful in some way.

I like music that has soul.
It can be soul, bluegrass or anything else as long as its got soul.
Most music is buffed and polished until all the soul is gone.People like it today but not tomorrow.
Know what Imean?

metal, but not crappy stuff like some black metal and this new hardcore screamo and emo ****. i love metal with intracit riffs and melody. people say that metal cant have melody but i have heard some great metal with opera vocals keyboard melodic and progressive riffs and rasped or growled vocals.
one band that many people would like is nightwish (older music before their Vocalist Tarja left)
she was trained to sing as an opera singer and used clean opera vocals to metal power riffs and their gutairist did opratic backing vocals. they have a keyboardist and their riffs are melodic as well as power riffs and some solo-stuff
check them out
