I dont know this Darwin guy personally but it sounds like he has his head screwed on.

Have you ever heard of the Fool card in a Tarot deck? The fool is gazing over the edge of a crumbling cliff with a flower in his hand and a dog jumping around his feet. He has no worries and no inhibitions. He thinks he knows all when he knows little. Ignorance is like a blindfold. But are you asking this question to really know the answer, or are you just trying to catch ignorance in the act?

My theory is that some people are comfortable in their ignorance and the false assumptions their ignorance causes them to make, so they resist any attempt to educate them.I have read some of your answers and agree with your premise that ignorant people are arrogant. You should google the words: Iraq chemical weapons factory, and you will see that we have found enough WMD in Iraq to kill over a million people. The choice is the ignorance of those who deny Iraq had WMD, or being educated, but arrogance does not allow education...

Absolutely he was right. Ignorance gives a false sense of confidence because it gives the subject the illusion of knowledge. A knowledgable subject knows enough to know that there maybe more data that has yet to be reviewed and as such remains open to possibilities.

Of course. Most people who are ignorant don't realize that they are.
