It's got catchy music, crazy characters, but I just don't get it. Maybe it's cause I'm not into crossdressing or something?

Well, when I was in college, I think the appeal was going to a crazy theater with a bunch of other crazy people yelling, singing and acting nuts. Lots of people were drinking or other things prior to the movie, and were quite "uninhibited". It was lots of fun, and just to see if I still thought it was fun, a couple of years ago, a friend and I went to see it again (with her adult daughter - now that was the wierd part) and it was still totally fun. I remembered all the great things to yell, and mostly at the right times! Let's Do the Time Warp Again!

You don't have to be into cross dressing. It's the idea that it was so rare to have a movie like that made. So open and in your face. Sometimes the point of a movie is not to get it. Movies don't always have to make sense. Usually the fun classics don't make sense. Willy Wonka--really doesn't make sense but you don't watch it to make sense. You watch it for the way it makes you feel.

Go to one of the theaters that still show it at midnight and you'll get it. It becomes an audience participation film. People yell out funny stuff at different points in the movie. Like every time Brad introduces himself the crowd yells "a**hole!" and for Janet, they yell "sl*t!" etc.

Same thing as Halloween -- people get to dress up and act stupid without fear or consequence.
PS. I'm assuming that you're referring to the midnight showing at some movie theaters and not the movie itself.

uh i don't know either, my dad loves it, and everytime i watch i just think to myself, wow........this is terrible.....it's all preference i guess. i'm not into cross dressing either you know that could be it
