Oooh! Good question. Unfortunately, there aren't many that focus on development as the main point of the movie, but rather on the conflicts that arise (since all movies, as narratives, need conflict).

It depends on what aspects of growth you want to focus on. Most of the movies made will discuss institutional conflicts - "rules" in the "system" that make it difficult for growth to occur. Most of these movies will feature a heavy political economy element - that is, how political/social/cultural forces shape economic policy, which is really the root of development economics.

Examples:
"The Constant Gardener" - fictional account of the downside of FDI by pharmaceutical companies.

"Out of Africa" - the book was more direct, but the movie takes on the romantic elements. Still, it's about people facing difficulties in the developing world.

"The Last Samurai" - discusses the cultural tensions and political resistence of development as a minor theme; Westernization versus Insular Japan

If "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" were ever made into a movie - as cynical as it would be - this would be a great example.

Maybe The Corporation, a documentary. But that is about big business in general.
Evita could be good. It shows how rich Argentina was post WW II and also highlights some of the failed economic policies. But more entertainment.
Why don't you go on Netflix and search for a particular country. I would try India as it has a big movie industry and is a very important country. Also a great case study: not a single famine since the end of colonialism, peaceful independence yet religious conflict, global high tech hub, green revolution.

They aren't any movies that would be appropriet to show inside of like a class room and have the student be entertained as well as educated. Its prob better if they just read a book.
