It’s not a war because we don’t have a defined enemy. Most wars are defined as either getting a clearly defined enemy to concede defeat, us acquiring land from an enemy, or us destroying an enemy by attrition, all through militaristic means. Who is the enemy in Iraq? If we can define the enemy, are they helmed under one unified headship that we can negotiate terms of surrender? The answers to these defining questions are a resounding NO! Hence, what we are fighting in Iraq is not a war, per se, as much as an aimless, bloody, and costly occupation.

If anyone here would ever watch the senate hearings that are taped in Washington (on C-SPAN) they may just actually know what is going on right now.

I'm wondering why everyone is swallowing media opinion? The media is the worst thing that could happen to the Iraq situation and even Hillary Clinton had an article that was printed in the Washington Post entered into the file of a 5 Star General at the senate hearing for this man.

If you think for one minute that the President is the only one who is responsible, think again.

This entire Iraq plan was CREATED by CIVILIANS at the Pentagon. Currently, we are only there to support the Iraq governement until they stabelize. The Iraq police, their army and other militia are taking the point. If they cannot handle it, they call in their national army, if those men need help, then they call US forces for help. We're at the tail end of this thing.

NOTE TO EVERYONE...Try listening to the military leaders who are being blamed for a civilian plan that was created for them. CSPAN carries these hearings live, and then again taped. I sat there from midnight until 6 a.m. listening to what this 5 star general had to say. And out of that, only 2 seantors admitted that cilivian plans for the military 'do not work'...they finally understand. Civilians who have never served in any way, have no place being armchair judges against anyone. Even the vets from VietNam were fighting a different type of war, so they do not have all the latest information either. They listen to media rather than watching the facts unfold...which is what CSPAN is all about.

When a senator such as Hillary Clinton believes a Washington Post report over a 5 star general and has it entered into his file, there is something seriously wrong with this picture. Who would you care to believe? The 5 Star General who was actually there, or some reporter promoting sensationialism? I'd take the General's word...not the media. Media is on the 'outside looking in and making assumptions'...but the military is on the inside knowing what is going on.

It's not a war. They called it "War in Iraq" because it sounds better than "Invasion of Iraq". In case you forgot, Bin Laden is responsible for 9/11, not Saddam Hussein. We went there for reasons that were proven to be false and now we can't leave because that will give a bad impression.

According to who?

As far as all sane people are concerned, it is a war. Remember when they attacked us on 9-11-01? That was the beginning of the war. Being the intelligent people we are, we took the war to them instead of letting them continue it here.

If you look at history, many of the wars the US has been in were not referred to as wars when they were currently going on. The Korean Conflict was relabeled war many years after the fact, and so was the Vietnam War. But let us ask the people involved in them and see what they think they should be called. This is a war whether we like it or not. Our fellow countrymen and women are dying each day, and to me, and many other Americans, that makes it a war.
