My job I have now is the best paying job I ever had. I know I asked this before but I'm hoping for more feed back than I had before. But they treat me bad. I'm a cleaner and last april they need the girl who was doing the reception to take over for the parts manager (she knows how to do the aministrative work). So they put me at reception . Then they hired a parts manager. So they put her back on the reception and put me back to cleaning. So I did the cleaning then about a month after the girl on the reception got sick and she was off for a while they put me on the reception. Then she came back and told them she can't do reception anymore. They put an ad on the internet for the reception position. I am going back to cleaning in a couple of weeks. The worst part is how I found out they had an ad out I was looking on the internet and saw the ad. No one told me.Yes my boss knows I want the job but he doesn't care he wants me back in cleaning. What should I do? Please help!

YOU KNOW WHAT, THAT IS A BUNCH OR BS...YOU SHOULD GO UP HIGHER THAN YOUR BOSS I WOULD, AND I WOULD Also PRINT OUT THE AD FOR ANOTHER RECEP. AND BRING IT TO HIS ATTENTION, AND IF NOTHING WAS DONE AFTER THAT THAN I WOULD START LOOKING FOR ANOTHER JOB..."NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS"!!! GOOD LUCK..

I think your best bet is to gently confront your boss about what he's looking for in a receptionist. Obviously, you are good enough in an emergency but there is something else that he's looking for. Ask him in a serious manner that reflects your honest desire to know what's "holding him back" from letting you keep the job. It could be something stupid such as--you're the only person he can trust to have total free rein of the offices to clean everything!--A well trusted cleaning crew is a serious matter in business, since the cleaners usually have access to people's private space and personal information. More so than the office receptionist. It may be something serious that you can improve on. He may be looking for somebody with a certain level of computer skills, people skills etc. If it is a matter of skills you may be able to remedy the problem at your local community college. It could also be a matter of appearance! The receptionist is often the first person seen at the office and sets the tone. You may have unwittingly been dressing inappropriately for the job--what one person thinks is a "great outfit" is another's idea of "bimbo." Office's have a tendency to run through receptionists--as you've seen. Try to act on any changes he suggests and you may find yourself offered the job next time or you may find a job as a receptionist somewhere else.

You most likely can go to a temp agency and get a job as a receptionist or doing something else.

Is there a community or religious organization where you live that can help you to prepare a resume? if none else, JFCS is non-sectarian and gives classes and literature on how to do a resume, how to look ofr work, etc. It is fee based but they will charge you very little if you don't have any money.

Since you wrote the above without a spelling or typing error, I would think that you can add typing and research to your skillset.

good luck!

Get another job and leave them when they need you most, when the scheduling is hectic.
