What do you mean "will" it already is. Try and register an older car in any state in the northeast.

Unfortunately, the issue has long since ceased to be a scientific issue and has become a political issue, not just in American politics, but in world politics.
I'll put aside the debate about whether global warming is caused by human activity or natural changes in the climate (greater minds than mine have weighed in on both sides of the issue), focusing instead on the hypocrisy of those who claim to want what's best for the planet.
You may recall the Kyoto Protocol, an international agreement (not yet ratified by the USA) that reportedly seeks to fight global warming by limiting "greenhouse gas" emissions. What Kyoto actually does is set limits on those emmissions for certain countries (USA is, of course, at the top of the list), while allowing other countries to continue to burn fossile fuels capriciously (China is the most ostentacious of the pollution offendors given wide latitude by Kyoto). Clearly, if Kyoto (and the global warming theorists who support it) was primarily interested in stopping global warming, ALL countries would need to cut their "greenhouse" emmissions.
As you correctly surmise, there is a political motivation, fueled by jealousy and hatred of American freedom and prosperity, to limit American consumption of fossil fuels (while allowing others to consume ad infinitum). I am pragmatic enough to believe that we should try to limit fossil fuel consumption by investing in renewable energy sources (and I hope that Pres. Bush's plans to do so are more than rhetoric). But to unevenly enforce limitations on America? Yes, that's a ploy to limit our freedom and prosperity.

Breathing?

Well, the key is to find a balance between freedom and responsibility. You don't have the "freedom" to dump battery acid into your towns water supply, but I don't hear you complaining about the loss of your freedom. In order to live in a stable society, humans chose to give up a certain amount of freedoms. Global warming will hopefully be used to get people to change their attitudes about what our culture is becoming, and what we want it to become.

If a Democrat is elected, definitely. As long as a Republican is in the white house, we should have our American Civil Liberties (heh) protected. Remember when Gore was running - he was rumored to be planning a bill to decrease car usage.

Remember, the biggest cause of CO2 from humans is breathing - Democrats already kill millions of babies a year, why not more people? That would certainly help global warming, right?

If the wrong people gain power then yes it will. It will also be used to redistribute wealth in a worst case scenario. In Al Gore's book Earth in the Balance, he flat out said that he thought people should be forced to live in mega-cities (I guess my hometown in central Idaho would be paved over with trees) and restricted from large amounts of travel.

Remember, the first solution to any problem from the left is to limit human activity and freedom. If that doesn't work, then you limit human life. The communists used that to kill over 100 million innocent people in the 20th century.

In a worst case scenario, it could be. Even in a general sense, we are guaranteed the freedoms of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" so what if it makes me happy to drive my hummer around all day? Are you going to take that away? You are infringing on my rights if you do.

Of course it will the left will use any untruth to limit thinking and actions not along their party lines anytime they can
i always hear Rep and right take our rights
I see only Dem's and the left making laws to limit us from legal actions such as smoking, eating, worshiping, choosing schools, and raising our children

It already has. If we were drilling in Anwar our government would not be putting MPG demands on car manufactures which would mean faster cars. Ca. would not restrict their gas to the special blend (oxygenated blend) that is only produced at 5 refineries so our prices would be decreased. We have no burn days in Ca where we can't burn our fire places for heat.

Yes it will, is something isn't done.

If something isn't done to stop global warming, and hopefully reverse some of it's trends many Americans will become refugees, and refugees usually have very few rights.
