As an AKA, and a former membership chair, you will have to wait until next year when you have the money. I'm glad that you want to join our illustrious organization, but unfortunately (as with many things) money can be an issue. I used to say at our Rush that AKA is a luxury, not a privilege.

This may be a personal question, and you can answer me offline, but have you already received an acceptance letter, or did you hear an estimation at Rush. If you haven't received an acceptance letter, than I wouldn't put all of my eggs in one basket just yet.

There are ways of getting the money if you have been accepted; I know personally of people who's churches have raised the money for them to be AKA's. If you happen to know graduate sorors you may want to see if they will sponsor you, etc... We don't offer scholarships for membership, so that other advice is not reliable.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me...DM

Why don't you talk to the rush captain at AKA? If you come from a needy background, there are such things as scholarships. If you just failed to plan ahead, well then your bad.

The last thing you want to do is pledge and then get into debt with your frat. Maybe wait until next year and live in the house if you can - sometimes the costs of pledging PLUS Room and Board are actually not much more than the dorm.

How about you save your money and put it toward something useful and responsible instead of living in a house full of people who forgot to grow up.
