I don't think "middle america" should get free health insurance but do think they could make it a little more affordable.

They should make the prisoners earn their health insurance in prison just like we do out of prison.

Can't you people read? I said the prisoners on dealth row....Why insure them...they shouldnt even be sitting on dealth row long enough to need insurance....of course the prisoners who are not on death row need it, but if they can just give them free health insurance, why can't the make health insurance for the middle calss more affordable? NOT FREE!!! More affordable!!

You have to take car of them , now death row is a differnet matter but they stay too long, if exectuions were carried out with in six months, that would reduce costs, for the short timers or non lifers like I said you have to keep caring for their health, its a biach but they do work for nothing, and if not you have to let them out

What do you suppose is more humane to let them die due to a flu for a DUI or any offense. If it were you would you prefer death by fever to incarceration. A prisoner is already responsible to pay -by whatever means- for toilet paper, soap and other hygienic products, they must buy their own shoes and pay for their under garments. Prison is not a good place try visiting one sometime. You can obtain insurance and shop comparatively - his/her children may not have that option or medical care available at all due to prejudicial treatment of family of prisoners. It is felt by many Dr.'s that the family of prisoner needs to be as punished as the criminal. Think about it-investigate the true punishment of crimes. There is no steak and potatoes behind bars that is a fallacy. There are sad and lonely people who are being stripped of any hope and degraded by society's piety.

Is it such a good deal that you want in on it? If not why not? Oh that little thing about your freedom? They don't make enough money in jail to get private health care insurance. Asking an enclosed society like a prison population to not have health care, is asking for a breeding ground for sexually transmitted diseases and gives contagious illnesses a breeding ground from which to infect the general public. Not to mention that its dangerous to the corrections officers who guard them and then goes home to his family at night. If a man is in for stealing, should negligence allow him to die from ruptured appendix? Or should he be in pain due to a ruptured disc? Is that what you want? Prison health care is very basic in most cases. It makes no sense to go off on them from a public health standpoint and has nothing at all to do with what middle class families expect from working hard and still going bankrupt from medical bills. Our greatest country in the world still has coin collections cans at the 7/11 for children with cancer. That's what I worry about.

Would you rather let them out so they can get a job and get health care. You can't morally refuse anyone's right to seek health care. But if by the circumstance of being in jail, they have no way of getting their own health care, you have to give it to them. And you have the right to go to jail if you want that free healthcare.

Well this is one of those "sticky things"
we can't very wel NOT give them medical attention when needed...but yes it sucks when you bust your butt and have to pay for it and those that don't get it for free..
I feel the same about welfare...I hate that some people abuse the system...but we can't very well let children go hungry.
Catch 22 if you ask me.

If we lock them up and dont let them out we have to provide health care-its absolutely morally required.
