Obviously, every cell in your body doesn't die simultaneously when the ability to have consciousness is lost. How long does it really take for all your cells--brain cells in particular--to die?

Brain cells die between 3 and 7 minutes after blood flow stops.

Irreversable brain damamge starts in 3-4 minutes, after 10 minutes the damage is so serevre that you are clinically brain dead.
