It baffles my mind that a culture whose history is tought in classes throughout the year would want to condense all of their history into a mere month just because another culture has a month designated to their history. Last I checked, a year was far better than a month.

Of course there shouldn't be any month dedicated to the history of a particular race, and there wouldn't be if the history of all races was intregrated into the entire year, but things aren't that way, unfortunately, so here we have the months. By the way, Hispanic Heritage Month is in September, American History Month is in November, Women's History Month is in March, and Asian/Pacific Islander History Month is in May. Let's whine about those months, too, eh?

By the way, unlike most of the stupid race-related questions on here, I included the word "some" instead of generalizing an entire race of people..

I don't think you should look at it as we learn "White History" all the time in History classes. I think the fact that many Black people take pride to having a month dedicated to us makes people wonder well what about me and my history. The thing is, Black people in general like to throw it in everyone's faces how bad our history was and that we should be honored all the time by everyone, when we haven't shown change in out daily society today that we appreciate what our fellow Black freedom fighters and inventors have done for us. I think it's this whole group of people who come out and make a voice for Black people the way whites did back in those days, forgetting that our freedom was not fought for us to isolate ourselves from others who are not black. It's one thing to teach or discuss our history with others than to rub it in peoples faces and call it a day. We today weren't there to see the hard ship, so we shouldn't think of ourselves as segregated now, when we have equal rights and the freedom. I think everyone should end Racism on a positive note.

i think of its because of the fact promptly the default race is white. each little thing is pointed white-its the ordinary norm. it does look a sprint unfair and could be seen as racist having hispanic history month and black history month, yet we live in a rustic the place being a minority is a handicap and an computerized mark against you in existence-even although we are able to all deny it, that is in some way/shape/type. i dont think of that having one month out of the 300 and sixty 5 days the place we are able to concentration on the achievements of the underdogs particularly hurts. the folk particularly working this u . s . a . are white. the least they might do is supply minorities some acknowledgement often times. i think of that, basically like mothers day and valentines day, those minority months are crocks of ****-there could be awareness 3 hundred and sixty 5 days around, yet individuals are too self-in touch to maintain consistent mindfulness of others. so we smash it down into small time frames like secretarys day and aids awareness month. meh. we suck as human beings.

some people want a white history because other races have one. They are feeling left out. But want they don't understand we learn white history everyday. Society is still controled by whites. Our people went through a more and we a black history month way more than a white history month.

They want it so they can sit and talk about the good old days. Everytime Black people are able to claim something, what do you hear from a white person?
My god whites are the minorites now! What is this world coming to when Black people have a history month? What are we going to do, since whatever we say is racist?
They make me laugh. It's so funny that they are finally able to see how it feels to be hated and they don't like it. It's hilarious. White people are starting to walk in our shoes, but trust me they have only started an inch of that mile.

I don't think there should have to be months designated to teaching a certain type of history. It should all be taught in classes year round.
I did mean all of them. I do know there are months dedicated to other's history also. Not just black history month.

I would love to know "Who" wants this.
Don't group us "white folk" all together. LOL (sounds familiar!)
Seriously, who wants this? Has one person voiced this to you? Or millions?
White History month is retarded. We are all AMERICANS, it shouldn't matter....
But wait a minute. Are you telling me that the history that is taught in school today is not YOUR history as well? Why are you purposefully seperating yourself from fellow Americans?
I'm sure you were born here just like me. Are you saying that's it's not important for Americans to know the history of their nation? Does yours differ from mine? I don't think so. You aren't apart of the same culture that I am, both being Americans??
This crap makes me so mad.

People don't realize that the rest of the year belongs to the whites. Even right now we are learning about white people in school and it's black history month. Its wrong for us to only have 1 month right?

White history month? Sound stupid. But we gave Febuary (the shortest month of the year) as black history month. There are plenty of white history celebrations already: Octoberfest for Germans, St. Patricck's day for the Irish, Mardi Gras for the Catholics.......ect ect. I actually could care less about my history because my American blood goes back too 1670 when my great to the 7th power was born.

The only reason Black have a damn Black history month is because White people got sick of all you black racist that whined and cried and your damn history and how you were all so done hard by... Give me a brake I'm Scottish and the damn English won't give Scotland their freedom and it's been going on for Centuries, a hell of a lot longer then your poor ancestors that were slaves because of their own people traded them in the first place... So what makes Black people so special, you don't see any other culture that has a month that they can celebrate their history... So stop whining and be happy that you have a month to celebrate your damn history...
