Starting my Solara usually takes two attempts. When I turn the key nothing happens. No clicking or nothing. The dashboard lights come on as normal. Everything appears normal but nothing happening. The second time I turn the key, it starts right up. I've replace the battery, pulled the starter and had it checked at AutoZone. I replaced the battery cables and connectors. I checked all the connections for tightness. And I checked the ignition switch with a meter as best I could. So what's next? Is there a relay I should be checking? Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you wish to test your relays, which is quick and painless to do anyhow, the easiest way is to rotate the whole bunch (assuming they are all identical, as most are).

To do this, you pull the first one and set it aside.
Then, pull the second one and plug it where the first one was.
Pull the third one and plug it where the second one was.
And so on, until you've pulled the last one and relocated it, to where you have that empty slot where you plug in the first one that you set aside.

Now, if the relays are good, then you will notice no difference.
But if one is bad, then the problem will have relocated (now the car should start ok, but something else is likely the matter).
At which point, the defective relay will be the one that got moved FROM the old trouble spot TO the new one (or you can just replace all of them, but it can be pricey).

This may not fix the problem but It's easy to do, and it doesn't hurt.

Dirty solenoid wire is where I would start. My vehicle did the same exact thing, my mechanic is starting with that. If the problem isn't resolved with cleaning up the wire to solenoid his next step is the ignition switch. Hope this is helpful.

Possibly it's taking two attempts before the security system is recognizing the code sent out by the chip on the key. I'd have it looked at before it leave you stranded.
