Adblock Plus will block almost all ads and you can subscribe to free table updates so you don't have to set it up yourself.

Forecastfox shows the local weather for the next few days on the bottom bar of the browser.

My Top 5

1 Adblock Plus - blocks ads from even downloading! No more flashing ads, talking ads, no more banners....
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1865/

2 FoxyTunes - control your music player without leaving Firefox.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/219/

3 Greasemonkey - Add custom JavaScripts to specific sites. Example: It can automatically log you into Ebay - normally you HAVE to click on the [Sign In] button. It can push your gmail sign in to a secure server. It can allow you to keep notes on stuff in ebay... there are literally about a thousand scripts out there for this.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/748/
http://userscripts.org/ is the main site for the scripts.

4) AJAX Yahoo! Mail - This puts little [+] before each e-mail title / subject. Clicking on the [+] opens the e-mail on the page. You can open 10 e-mails or more... on one page!
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1127/

5) CookieSafe - Blocks cookies until you say it's ok. Only sites that need you to sign in require cookies. The rest are just... nosy.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2497/

6) (bonus) Stylish - Applies custom CSS to sites. Example: Make all the text ads in Yahoo Mail (and Yahoo Answers) disappear. Make the areas set aside for ads (that now don't show because of adblock plus) collapse and disappear. Change the site's colours. Rearange how the site appears (move the menu to the left, right, across the top)....

There are lots out there... and check out the Themes too!

You can find all the add ons/plug ins in firefox itself. Search and discover it for yourself, like everyone else does! What suits someone else may not suit you!

An excellent add-on is Browster. It allows you to see a website without actually opening it first.

Have a good one
