When ever the car is parked out in the sun are are black ants crawling all over the car. I've located the source; they've nested in the water gutters on the A and C-Pillars. I tried to flush them away, but the water wont go down; they've blocked the gutters.

I tried spraying insecticide but it didn't do much. They were coming out at the bottom of the A-pillar and heading down towards the mudflaps and into the bodywork.

I left the car in the sun for hours. They come pouring out and die off, suppose of the heat, I guess...

I've seen an ant or two inside. I don't want them to nest in there... what can I do before it gets worse? How do they manage to nest in a gutter anyways?

Use aspartame, the best ant poison.Aspartame (Equal, Nutrasweet) and Sucralose (Splenda)mixed together and slightly damp. It has to be damp or the ants will not eat it. (Humans are not that smart)

If they are carpenter ants (do an image search to comfirm), you will need to get a professional out to get rid of them-most pesticides won't be effective. They love moisture so that may explain why they are around your gutters. They are big and black but won't bite people (usually) They will destroy the wood in your house, though so you should take care of them immediately. I know from personal experience :0(

I am not sure about a car, but in the house cucumber peelings seem to work. My mom had ants in kitchen. Someone told her to put fresh cucumber peelings in different places in kitchen. Everyday there were less and less ants. In a few days (by the time the cucumber peels dried out) they were gone and she has never had ants since.
