The Democrats failed to help New Orleans years ago when they let the environmentalists concerns over fresh water mussles stop the building of flood gates on Lake Ponchartain. The cost of building the flood gates was less than a tenth of the damage New Orleans suffered.

Do you have any sense perspective?

Hurricanes are much, much larger than tornadoes. You can see a hurricane from space tornadoes are small localized weather events. By comparing the two you both insult the victims of Katrina and display a shocking level of absurdity.

For the morons who commented about Bush's brother. Jeb Bush is not the Governor of Florida anymore. Pay attention.

New Orleans failed its self as did the state fail it the standard protocal is to send in troops after the storm which is what happened. 1/3 of the cops quit and some were even looting it was all to funny.

Your logic is flawed the local agency's failed and the dike failed because no one down there addressed the need to replace, enhance or repair it.

The real question is "Why did New Orleans fail?" The rest of the Gulf Coast was destroyed as well, and you don't hear Mississippi whining and complaining and blaming Bush! They are rebuilding. So why isn't Louisianna as resiliant?

I love the people here who think Jeb Bush is still the Governor of Florida. Typical "enlightened liberals."

Newsflash.. . . He did help New Orleans . News must be slow to get out where you live . Let's not forget he was dealing with a bumbling, stumbling Mayor and Governor . And Florida will be helped as well .

Katrina was Bush's fault? I thought the slow reaction of the governor and mayor, on top of FEMA was the reason for that. Did I miss something?

He will help, his bro is the governor there and keep in mind that there are white upperclass people in Florida, New Orleans was lacking in that area.
