I dont know why we have forgotten. Perhaps the reason has been obscurred by the hatred of the left of this president to have the guts to actually do something about it. Whether or not it is/was the right thing. I was unfortunate enough to see first hand the horrors of Husseins chemical weapons "tests" on his OWN people. Just because we had not found them right away does not mean they are not there. I mean, he did use them which means he had them. Some people think that a WMD has to be huge because of the word MASS. Well, an 1/8 of a cup of concentrated blister agent or a blood agent can be thinned out by other binding agents to kill 10's of thousands instantly and cause severe suffering for days for thousands of others until they die from exposer. So think about it, how hard would it be to hide a chemical weapon you could fit inside a ping pong ball in a desert? Then multiply that by a thousand. It wouldn't be hard to hide at all. Just because we cant find Hoffa doesnt mean he isnt dead.

The good news is, we've found many of the WMD's that the UN inspectors could not.
It turns out Bill Clinton was correct when he said all diplomatic options had failed and only military force could solve the Iraq problem. He created the Iraq Liberation Act in 1998, called off the cease-fire and resumed large-scale bombing of Iraq. He failed, so Bush had to get the job done.
And we are fighting against the guys who are blowing up schools and infrastructure. Fighting to defend the infrastructure while we are modernizing Iraq.
[Schmorgen - you are incorrect. Chemical weapons are easy to manufacture and Saddam cranked them out. They are made from common chemicals like chlorine (mustard gas) and pesticide (VX nerve gas) and cyanide (commonly used in electroplating). Saddam made his own and could have resumed manufacturing them at any time.]

Boy, for our looting of Iraq's oil, I still have a $300 gas bill. You'd think we could get a better deal on that while invading the country, but noooooooo.

we're in Iraq so Bush can be a war president and have the extraordinary powers that go along with that. he is a warmonger that has never seen battle and a megalomaniac without a religious conscience. In short, the man is totally without honor.

The bad news, speaksFoxBulletPointseasy, is that they are the same WMDs we gave Iraq to fight Iran 20 some odd years ago. Nice try, though.

Mostly because Republicans and this Administration do not want anyone focusing on "why" we are there. They want the focus to be on "we are there, what do we do now".... They know they can't support any reason for being there with any sort of credibility.

Build it fast, build it cheap. That way it has to be rebuilt in about 10 to 15 yrs. Job security some say. I say no ethics.
