I admit I voted for Bush in the last election, but I have been disgusted by his performance for many reasons. Assuming a Democrat will win the next election (McCain is a Bush clone and puppet), I think he/she needs to seriously explore alternate fuel sources. I'm tired of being held hostage by oil rich Arab nations. If we could produce ethanol, I'd much rather give my money to a farmer in Iowa than to a billionaire Arab. Bush hasn't persued this because of his ties to the oil industry.

Ok, I'm not saying ethanol is the way of the future, but it is an alternative. Bush said "we are addicted to oil," yet he doesn't do anything about it, such as mandating auto makers meet certain mileage requirements or getting Ford Excursions and Hummers off the road. Why do you think sales of SUV's have dropped? The high cost of foreign oil, of course. I'm not saying everyone has to be driving a hybrid, but we can do better than 15-17 MPG.

Getting us out of Iraq without looking even more idiotic than we already do. We are really loosing credibility with the entire world over this fiasco.

There are many, many things that are needed, but that is the most pressing. We do need to increase national security, but Iraq was the wrong way to do that.

So many issues, so little time. Immigration also has us looking bad to the rest of the world. Here we are trying to tell them what to do and we can't even secure our own borders and enforce our own laws.

Actions speak louder than words and our actions say that we are not so effective.

As far as the environment goes, you really think Bush is doing such a great job. He wants to drill for oil no matter where it is. He doesn't care if it endangers pristine land, he can buy his own pristine land to look at.

I'm sure that he is fighting as hard as he can to make us energy self sufficient. Even thought it hurts his lifelong friends and business associates. Yeah, right.

Clearly the environmental issues are the most important to global prosperity, and domesticly the war and the economy are also important.

I believe the three are intrinsicly intertwined. Here's how......

The middle east power struggle is based on the middle east being the cradle of global energy production. The power brokers who run the middle east and do business with the middle eastern oil interests want to keep their grasp over the economy of global energy resources. If we adventually eliminate the need for imported petrolium products the tensions in the middle east become less about power and money and more about the actual needs of the people who reside in that region, and will adventually lead to better co-operation between these countries and the rest of the world. In the US we are nearly entirely dependant on middle eastern oil, if OPEC decided to cut a significant percentage of our supply it would cripple our economy, we can not be held hostage by oil barons. Who else remembers the OPEC induced "oil crisis" in the late 70's. It was caused by President Carter's staunch support of getting the US entirely off fourign oil.

By changing our fuel options we as a people will take the reigns of our economic stability back from the oil barons, whether it be some Sheik or Exxon/Mobile. At the same time we will also be helping to ease the carbon emmissions that the US puts out, helping the environment at the same time.

It's a no brainer, and shouldn't be as devisive as it is if you look at reality, and not a charade.

Balance the budget, and that includes the cost of wars that have been getting left out of official budget estimates until it's time for the next inevitable supplemental spending bill. (If some people support the wars so much, would they support a tax increase to pay for the wars? Taxes were raised during almost every other major war fought by our nation: why not this time? Where does the patriotism go every April?)

We can't control everything that happens in the world. But we CAN and MUST control our national pocketbook. The national debt is a drain on the economy and a ball & chain for the future of our nation. The percentage of the federal budget that's thrown away via interest payments on the debt grows larger every year. How big a hole do we need to dig before we're over our heads?

How to balance the budget? Some say cut spending, some say raise taxes. Without doing some of both, the budget will never be balanced, IMHO, so both sides of this argument need to make compromises in order to get this thing done.

That's not true, Bush is doing more for alternative energy than Clinton did. I have environmentalist friends of mine that approve of some of Bush's measures on the environment, like our energy bill a few years ago. They say he could do more, but they'll take what they can get, especially under Bush. Ethanol production is expanding slowly, and many midwestern states have pumps. Also, flex-fuel vehicles are more popular now. There are even some houses that have solar panels that contribute to local energy grids. Some people's utility meters are running backwards, the utility companies are paying the owners of the property for electricity!

Each person will have his/her own view/interest in this. The #1 issue on the agenda should be Medicare. Think about it. If repair isn't done soon, we could possibly have a national disaster on our hands. The Medicare system is so fragmented and has been so neglected for so long, the results are beginning to show. The "baby boom gen" (i.e. me) is on the cusp of reaping the benefits of what we have earned and expected all our lives. Now we face not having that expected safety net we hoped for. Medicare Part D is a joke. Many of us have to choose whether we should eat, pay for the roof over our heads, the heat, OR get our medication this month! It IS that black and white! If you're not there yet, it's hard to imagine this dilemna. But it is in real time and you're gonna see tragedies because of it.
#2 on the Agenda should be: Get rid of the ACLU!!!!!

First and foremost let me tell you that Ethanol is a bad joke on all of us! It is doing Little more than raising the cost of Corn!
The Amount of Ethanol added corresponds to the exact same decrease in Mileage! It is simply an acceptable version of WATER!

COAL to OIL is the answer! We need to begin building refineries for the process! WE have more Coal than GOD!!!

Now, for the Executive's priority-HANDLING THE INVASION!
Force Congress to stop allowing Citizenship to children of people inappropriately here! Bust the Employers violating our labor laws!
This could be easily done by letting enforcement occur at the State and local levels. The Feds have failed to keep up with the load! Stop all benefits meant for our citizens, from being taken by people illegally or inappropriately here!

That is all that is needed to stop this insane garbage that is wrecking our Nation!
