Consequences.!!!!!
Let there be a lesson here for all those who follow behind you.
I too face the eternal damnation of being considered unfit by past mistakes to hold any positions of trust or responsibility.
16yrs have past and my record will remain for the rest of my life.
As I slipped through the system and worked my way into positions of trust my employers when made aware of my past chose to turn a blind eye, but that was only because they had the opportunity to witness my ability to do the job. However advancement is always out of the question.
What to do about it???
Try working with what is instead of what sucks about what cant be.
ie; become self employed....find a job where it doesnt matter (there are zillions of jobs that fit the bill)
Lastly..believe in yourself no matter what.
Imagine being declined employment just because one is black/ asian/ etc.
WOW!!!! There must be a million reasons to feel hard done by.

If you had made a mistake once it might have been easier to overlook, but twice you've kind of pushed it and lost some credibility.

Still, don't give up. There are those who would hire you on the belief that everyone deserves another chance. Just keep looking and eventually you will find that job.

Do community work too. You will build good references and when an employer can see that you've been trying and doing good and someone else has given you that trust and you have not let them down you will likely stand a better chance and also have references.

This is what's called "paying society back" and probably what will help you in the end.

I know what you are going through. A lot of my people have found themselves in this predicament. The deck is stacked against you but it is not impossible. You may have to become an entrepreneur. A landscaping business can be started relatively easily. You can then parlay that money into even bigger ventures. As far as getting a job that is still possible with a record. A friend of mine did 2 years for dope and came out got a job paying 45 grand plus over time. But don't give up. The architects have designed it so people that get felonies will give up and fall right back into the traps they have set. Don't let them win by being predictable. Good luck.

Here's the deal - it is these very mistakes that define us. You'll find yourself making less and less of them as you practice correcting the ones you've made. It is not the mistake, but how you atone for it that counts and this pursuit is where your character and integrity are born and thrive. What to do next? Think about what you love to do and what makes you feel noble when you do it. Then, go to the person who is in the position to grant you an occupation and ask he/she if they've ever made a mistake. If they are honest, they'll say yep, then you explain that you've made one too and you're trying to get right with the world. If they are not honest and say no, walk out as you don't need to be with that. Find your heart and let it lead you. And always remember compassion. The more you let compassion lead you, the more compassion you earn in return. Good luck!

Now you know the meaning of look before you leap...it means for every action there is a reaction...employers are reacting to your actions taken in the past. Give them something else to look at, try to get references from a clergy or friend. How about your parol officer if you have one. Have someone put in writing your good ethics and convince the potential employer you have changed and need a new start. One day someone will give you that chance. Hang in there...good will come your way.

It will always be hard for somebody who made a past mistake, if that person makes it hard. If you think negative all the time, you will see the world in a negative way and it will suck, and be hard, but if you look at it in a positive way, life will be good. Basically, life is what you make it.

You're probably slated for a construction job. Those are the most non-judgemental and the pay is good, just not often enough.
