I'd have to know more about what the person does like to say for sure, but I'd guess that it's possible. "The Dark Crystal" and "Return to Oz" were written for children and adolescents; "Pan's Labyrinth" is for adults only. It is much more disturbing, and it's more about history, horror, and psychology than about fantasy.

A couple of caveats, however: If you don't like the sight of blood and can't stand subtitled foreign films, don't bother. "Pan's Labyrinth" is in Spanish with subtitles and doesn't shy away from depicting violence as violent. It's not a bloodfest, but it is realistic.

I did not enjoy The Dark Crystal at all as a child and still don't to this day. I went to see Pan's Labyrinth and loved it. It was a great movie. It kept my interest the entire time. A couple of parts were a little confusing to me but I did flinch during some scence with scary looking creatures and some violence. I would recomend seeing the movie. If you dont like it, oh well. It was very unique and held a good story. It was worth my cost of movie tickets.

Pan's Labyrinth is not a fantasy movie! It is a drama with the fantasy world of the little girl character woven into the real story. It is a serious movie placed in a historical context (Spain, early 1940's, after the civil war), and is in spanish with subtitles. I thought it was excellent and definitely worth the time. No happy ending here...
Considering you listed liking Lost in Translation, I think you'd probably like it.

There are over 6 billion human beings on our planet. to assume that there is in basic terms one which you will have a useful relationship with is slightly naive. once you're fortunate, you nonetheless locate the guy suitable after the honeymoon era, and something is artwork to maintain that going. A "soul mate" is an amazing concept, yet i don't think of it incredibly is in any respect real looking.

Probably not. Pan's Labyrinth is more like Alice in Wonderland than either of those movies but it's still a really dark fantasy. The tone is similar enough that you probably wouldn't like it.

If you don't like The Dark Crystal and Return to Oz you don't like good fantasy. So probably not.
