I dont want to download or up load any music and have permission to do so. Is there anything special I need to do. I simply want to play my songs thru my work pc.

Get a line-in patch cable. It'll have a standard 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone plug at both ends, which you can plug into the audio input on your computer (it should be located next to the headphone and microphone inputs on the back of your computer, might have blue labeling, and should have an icon designating sound with an arrow pointed inwards) and the headphone jack on your iPod. You'll also want to get a separate AC adapter if you don't want to have it hooked up to your computer at all.

you may desire to easily have the potential to plug it into the laptop and it is going to fee. I try this with mine. additionally, the laptop does not even choose for iTunes on it. I plug mine into my somewhat previous laptop and it quotes purely wonderful...yet mine is an older modle of the nano. test it out on a distinction laptop, and notice if it somewhat works. If no longer call/email the iPod company and ask.
