Kobe is the best right now. He is the best perimeter shooter in the game. Can score from the perimeter, driving to the inside, and running screens. The best clutch player right now. He is probably the 2nd or 3rd best defensive shooting guard in the league who have guarded everything from point guards to small forwards.

In my opinion he is the single most dominent player in the game and has shown that consistently.

1. Kobe has 3 rings, Arenas, Nash, KG etc etc etc dont... rings make or break your career.

2. Kobe is the most clutch player in the game, would you rather have anyone else with the ball in their hands in the final seconds of a game? I wouldn't but Gilbert is making a case for himself in the future but right now Kobe has a decided advantage.

3. Kobe's team has less overall talent then the Suns, Mavs, Spurs yet has one of the best records in the NBA, I think you can directly relate the teams success to Kobe's ability to bring his team to that next level.

4. This is not a MVP discussion this is making a case for the best player in the NBA, all I can say is 81, second highest total in NBA history. Not even MJ can say that and he was hands down the best player of his era. If Kobe can do what MJ couldn't while still keeping pace with MJ in rings how can you even make a case that he is not the best player in the league?

That being said Kobe is the best player in the NBA and I would like someone to actually make a arguement that he is not... can you point out something other then hes cocky or hes a ballhog or w/e jibberish you can spout with out actually using any facts or stats to back up your trash?

Kobe Bryant is hands down the best player in the NBA, he is unstoppable on offence, he can score from anywhere. He can shoot the 3, he can shoot from mid range, he has the handles to get to the basket and unlike most guards he has a legit post game.

On defence he gets it done too, he made 1st all team defence last year, the awards don't lie.

Kobe is unstoppable, he is clutch beyond demand, can shoot the lights out, dominant handle, shut down D, legit post game. And when he wants to he can pass like a point guard.

Anyone who says anything else is lieing to themselves, Wade is head and shoulders above Kobe for MVP? Last I heard Heat weren't even at .500

Kobe Bryant is without a doubt the best player in the NBA

Yes, Kobe Bryant is the best player in the game today. Anyone who says Kobe is selfish or can't pass, hasn't watched a Lakers' game in the last 2 years. (Kobe was more selfish when he was younger, but his maturation has been amazing) Kobe is the center of the team, getting all the other players involved. That, and he continues to make absolutely sick shots at key moments of the game. There's no one I'd rather have with the ball at the end of a game. (To shoot it or to dish to someone wide open.)

Yes, Bryant is the best Basketball player in the world right now. It looks like he should get the MVP this year. If Nash wins it again the trophy will be cheapened to the point of irrelevance.

should be considered amongst the best because hes playing with a handful of guys that couldnt start on most squads and raising their level of play...psychologically frail the lakers would not have a good record without kobe, especially through the grind of the playoffs when the elite teams turn it up, especially when the big guys on the team, like cook , odom and vlad look to shoot from outside rather than drive and kwame and bynum are lost on the switch and help defense

There are so many great players in the NBA right now that you cannot say for sure that a certain player is the best. Garnett, Dirk, Nash, Wade and Lebron can vie for that title.

ok so this just blows my mind, Kobe is the most selfish player in teh league and the lakers are 3-0 WITHOUT him this year. and it took way too many people answering this question to mention Gilbert Areanas as the best player he is having an amazing year. and this is my honest opinion,. give gilbert a nother year, give lebron a few more and give Kevin Martin a few years and youll have more elites in this league

Hell no! Not even close. There's quite a handful of NBA players greater than Kobe.
