HI, I'm a volunteer at schools in fl. Many of my friends teach grades kindergarten thru 12th. Please Make a sound decision, most of them are unhappy with the pay ,the jobs are through the city(so check out the city governments' websites for openings) and the education standards are low. The Studentsi n fl are all forced to take the FCAT, in certain grade levels and that affects how much funding a school gets. Of course that means that the teachers are under tremendous pressure from the administration. And in fl, there are a lot of migrant children thatdon't speak english which can become an obstacle when there in class with english speaking pupils.

in the present day Florida is making enormous cost selection cuts, so this 365 days could not be the ideal 365 days. you're able to bypass to Florida's DOE internet site and locate out the policies. They do settle for some state's certificates. It relies upon on the college district so some distance as how some years you may carry into the equipment. The West coast of Florida has a tendency to be much less crowded and fairly slower paced than the East coast. It least that has been the case. All of Florida has fairly grown, yet cities like Naples, fort Myers, Sarasota, Venice, Port Charlotte, Boca Grande are all fairly superb, yet you will not locate call a million in Boca. If I had it to do yet back, i might stay on the outskirts of Tampa St. Pete or withing astonishing distance. there is extra to do in that section than south of there. There additionally are some superb cities in often happening Florida in case you do not could be on the water. I actual have additionally heard that St. Augustine is stunning.

wow! what a coincidence! I'm also a virgo and looking for a career change in teaching in FL. you're actually the 2nd coincidence. anyway, i live in lake county. so far I've found out that if you're a new teacher of core academic subjects, you must meet the No Child Left Behind Highly Qualified Teacher requirements. New teachers must have or be eligible for the appropriate certification area/s for each assignment.
In FL, we must pass the Florida Teacher Certification Examination. If we are eligible, we can teach and later take the test. I think the Dept. of Education (DOE) will give us 2 years to take the test and pass it. My teacher cousin says it is like that in West Palm Beach. So it really depends what county you live in.
Also, eligibility depends if you're college credits from India will be acknowledge by the Florida DOE. If not you'll have to go back to school.
I suggest you stop by your nearest county school district and get some info.
good luck to both of us.

The website below has lots of good information about regulations concerning teaching in the United States. The second link is about teaching in Florida. Some of the process is regulated by the United States, but also each state has a separate process to qualify teachers.
There is a teacher shortage in various parts of the US. I don't know about Florida, but we have a shortage in Houston, Texas. I think the shortage is the most in math and science, bilingual education, and other special areas. Good luck!

I agree with firefury...definately rethink teaching in FL...the pay is bad and so are the working conditions! Very high teacher turnover. I used to live and teach there.
