It's an office procedure done under local anesthetic. It painless until recovery. The amount of pain and recovery time varies from person to person. Mine took about 3 days with an ice bag in the groin. Some people feel better much sooner. Resting and pain control are the only recovery issues. There are no changes to sexual performance after the procedure. Some studies suggest an increase in the risk of prostate cancer after vasectomy.

I got mine 20 years ago. My experience was pretty good, so yours should be even better. Technology has come a long way in 20 years.

They gave me a prescription for an anti-biotic and for a pain killer. I took the anti-biotic, and blew off the pain killer. Plain old Advil worked fine. I was walking slow, and a little sore for about four days. After that it was done. I would say it was a LOT less uncomfortable than getting a wisdom tooth pulled. I was back to work in two days.

I have no scar. My sex life is normal. It only improved my sex drive because I don’t want any kids, and there is no fear of getting anyone pregnant ever. Otherwise there has been no change at all.

Some men report problems, but honestly the problems are not physical. They suffer psychological problems. becuse getting a vasectomy can hurt their delicate egos because the fact that they will not be having any/or any more kids.

So you have tattoos? Well, getting a tattoo is more traumatic to your body than your husband will experience getting a vasectomy.

Dustoff gave you a good answer. I am obviously a female but my husband had a vasectomy after our son was born and I haven't seen any difference in his virility, appearance, performance or erections/ejactulations. As for me, it's great not having to worry about birth control, that was always a concern since both of us are very fertile. In fact, I'm considering getting my tubes tied just to be "double" sure!

Anyway, a vasectomy is inexpensive and done easily outpatient, I think my husband was in and out of the office in an hour, certainly no more than 90 minutes total. He just laid around on the sofa for a day or two with an icepack (testicles are huge and swollen for awhile so be prepared when you see this!)

For the first two days it feels like you were kicked in the nuts. Its the same kind of soreness. You basically sit there with a pack of frozen peas on your groin for two days. The painkillers do not do much to eliminate that ache. After that it subsides and within a week the pain is gone although your in no mood to do anything athletic for a couple weeks more.

When your fully recovered you do not feel different in any way. Everything is exactly the same.

I just had one, one week ago yesterday. I feel slightly sore. Its not that bad really. I went to planned parenthood and the total cost was 525$. I was able to go to work the next day but I didn't because I wanted to relax and take it easy. No, I don't feel changed I'm glad I got it over with. Good luck.

I had it done many years ago. The doctor did it in his office. He numbed the area and I don't remember feeling him cut. After the numbness wore off I was a little sore. I had to bring in sperm samples for about two weeks to see it the operation took.

My husband had one 29 years ago and has never regretted it for a second.

It just takes all fear of pregnancy out of your life. It's wonderful.

Husband was obviously a bit sore and bruised after wards but he was back to work three days later. It has had no effect whatsoever on his sexual performance. I would advise him to go ahead. Good luck.

Mine was not bad...Although I over did it about two days after...and paid the price. ;) But if getting it done I would buy three bags of frozen peas...And use them. :) There was no change for me...
