No, different cells all have different amounts of mitochondria. For instance, muscle cells have hundreds or thousands of mitochondria, while sperm only have one mitochondrion, in a spiral shape. It really varies and depends.

and yes, haysoos, sperm cells only have 1 mitochondria. they don't have oodles and oodles of them, they only have one.

Eggs on the other hand, have many mitochondria. Because eggs are fairly large cells,a nd also, they have to get enough energy to be able to power the development of an entire organism. Also, maybe the fact that every single one of the child's mitochondria are descended from the mitochondria in the egg cell

No!! Cells have varying numbers of mitochondria dependent upon their function. Most obvious examples of cells that haven't any is Erythrocytes (Red Blood cells). Whereas hepatocytes, (liver cells), and Muscle cells have many. These are a few examples but for more information why not try a good textbook. My favourite, (if u have a favourite Cell biology book at all), is Essential Cell Biology by Bruce Alberts et al, ISBN number is 0815334818. Its about £30 GBP on Amazon.com or available in any good book shop. GOOD LUCK!!

No, the number of mitochondria per cell vary quite a bit, depending on what sort of function the cell is doing.

Storage cells, such as most fat cells, have very few mitochondria. Muscle cells have a lot. Sperm cells have oodles of mitochondria in them to power the squiggly tail, while egg cells have only a few.

depend on the body part. if you work your arm a lot all the muscle cells in that region will have roughly the same amount which will be quite a lot. but the muscles in another part of ur body u bearly work out, that region will have almost the same number of mitochondria but way less than the cells in your arm

cells hav many mitochondrias dependin upon the work they do and the amount of energy they require as we know the respiration chain ie etc is in the mitochondria

Absolutly not,., it depend of type cell,, p.ex. the cells of the liver have more mitochondrias than a oocyte., if the cell needs more energy obiously needs more mito..

mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cells and their function is metabolism. so, they are more in metabolically active areas such as liver cells.

I always thought cells only had one Mitochondria?

of course not, cells have different specific functions, so of course they will be different amount or number of a specific part to do that specific function
