Insanity is the inability to cope with reality and being unable to function in society.

Someone who is mentally bothered by the infinite amount questions that lie behind the universe and life - by this definition I would say everyone falls into the categor of being insane (as well as pain and suffering play a role on a person's mental status). But it's the people that can't help but show their insanity to the outside world are the ones considered clinically "insane"
Basically, I beleive everyone is insane (because NO ONE has all the right answers), some people are just better or really good at hiding what it is specifically that causes them to be insane. And that is the line between sanity and insanity- whether you can hide it or not.

Don't look down on anyone who may appear a little off.

The sane think of others as insane, and the so called insane think that the sane are insane. Neither can always be right because it depends on your point of view. There is no way to tell completley, though there are signs in both categories.

The best thing about your question is your "awakening"- the consciousness and the "hey, wait a minute, what makes this so?" sentient awareness.

Now that your eyes are open, look for the answers.
Who defines "sane" and "insane"
What are the parameters of "sane behavior" vs "insane behavior"?
When does a behavior get labeled as "insane"?
Where do you get help?
------------------

You are a good example of "Sane". Why? Because your thought process in asking this question is voluntary

When thinking becomes a compulsive and autonomous process, we become insane.

The best definition of insanity i've been able to come up with is this: that you think *you* are sane, but everybody else isn't.

insanity by definition is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results. it is broad but think about that and you can see that reasoning is the difference between sanity and insanity. if the reasoning in any way is altered to a level where it is obscured then the outcome is affected. Insanity is in the motive and actions.

Insane is living in a fantasy world and not being aware of the real world.

Money is the dividing line!

If you have lots of it, you are only eccentric.

If you are poor, you are then insane.

There is nothing either sane or insane, by thinking makes it so.

sane people put the insane in straight jakets and inject them with tranqs to keep them quiet. you qualify for being insane if you are different than others and the "sane" people as you call them belong in the straight jakets

Yes, put them on a large Island with all the Christians and no boats or phones or internet - perhaps the Australians might be prepared to give up their home for such a good cause?
